Great fun! Delighted with your site. My father is a Humanist. I find humanists have great points to make on ethics without god but tend to loose their point when they state ‘there is no god’, after all is this not a beleif? I prefer to think of my self as an atheist in the terms you set.
Some Humanists have arguments that they use to prove that there are no deities, but personally I don’t find them compelling. I also disagree with Humanism on some minor points (for example, I think that there are some types of useful information that are not the result of scientific inquiry, and I can’t categorically rule out the possibility of the supernatural, even though I see no compelling evidence for it). Even so, my personal philosophy is very close to that of secular humanism.
Glad to have you aboard!
