It makes me think of other cases where people object to “artificial” things but ignore the exact same phenomenon happening in a way they have decided to call “natural” — for example, eugenics is obviously evil, except for when we choose our romantic and sexual partners to be the people we find most attractive and deem most likely to have healthy, intelligent offspring.
