From the IAmAnAtheist feedback form:
I understand the use of moderation on websites, especially ones that can generate irrational responses, but my experience has been that excessive moderation curtails interest. I like the Q2 philosophy as you present it and would like to see what other “rational” people have to say about it. I wonder if the lack of comments is an indication of a lack of interest or of excess moderation, contrary to the claim that there is a high volume of correspondence or perhaps the high moderation pushes correspondence which readers never see.
I’ve been giving careful thought to your comment. I get a fair amount of hate and junk in the comments on my site, and that’s why I have been using comment moderation. However, I find your argument compelling.
I’ve made my spam filter a little more sensitive and turned off comment moderation. We’ll see how it goes.
