I don’t think being born into a world without a god necessarily means that everyone is born equal (nor would the reverse necessarily be true). However, regardless of whether god exists, it is pretty hubristic to assume that you and only you have the truth, especially without trying to understand the other side(s). This is true for atheists as well as theists.

Ed, beware of traps one lays for oneself.

If one doesn’t believe in a deity (in particular a single godhead, as in the Christian case), then one has to accept that all people are equal because they’re born into the same circumstances {the world} and are faced with the same challenges (albeit not necessarily to the same degree at the same point in their maturation development).

If one calls another “fool”, then one is liable to be brushed with the same label. Are you not?

Tearing that message down would be too easy,..

“… excelent writer…”, but not so good with spelling, grammar and general structure.

“I am a journalism student; However, I am very intelligent,…”, so most journalism students are not?

“There are plenty of sound, philosophical arguments I could provide you with, but I haven’t the time now,…”, When? When, please let me know when. I would love to hear these arguments from a very intelligent person who does not like to brag (really, they don’t).

“If not, I understand,…” Understand what? I guess I don’t get it because I am not a very intelligent person.

In all fairness I would like to hear their arguments for theism. I trust this person’s belief in a deity is honest and that point of view alone is almost always worth my time when someone wants to explore their reasoning.
