Doing the Impossible

The below item is part of my "Conversations" series.

Two kids at summer camp

Francis: You know what?

Greg: What?

Francis: I don’t think God’s really all powerful.

Greg: He’s omnipotent. He can do anything.

Francis: Look, I’m going to draw a square. Now, I’m going to draw lines between opposite corners, so it’s a square with an X in the middle.

Greg: So?

Francis: So, I had to lift my pencil to draw it, and it’s impossible to draw a square with an X in the middle without lifting your pencil. Even God couldn’t do it.

Greg: Yes He could. You can fold the corner of the paper over to carry the pencil to a new place without lifting it off the paper.

Francis: Well, God couldn’t do it without bending the paper.

Greg: Yes He could, by teleporting the pencil instead of lifting it.

Francis: He couldn’t do it without teleporting.

Greg: Maybe he could move it through another dimension.

Francis: I mean he couldn’t do it without using miracles.

Greg: Yes he could.

Francis: How?

Greg: I don’t know, but God could think of some way because He’s omnipotent.
